The process begins with a review of the service requirements and general system layout. Swift provides the specifications to the customer and the A&E team. Swift will supply conceptual 3D models of the guideway, coaches and stations to support approval processes with owners, regulators, funding sources and local authorities. Preliminary design and engineering can accommodate either the ANSI/ASCE Standards for APMs or modified standards enforced within the jurisdiction. Swift can participate in the team's risk allocations and funding sources securement. |
Structural engineering is paramount in estimating costs that will drive the largest expenditures for the project. The A&E firm will have the freedom to design and engineer any guideway and station structures that meet the requirements to carry Swift bogies and coaches. Passenger, or cargo, loading and unloading requirements will be coordinated with the owner, Swift and the A&E firm to delivery an optimized solution. Swift will provide all necessary documentation, analysis and recommendations to the A&E firm as requested.During this phase, the owner will provide final design and astatic requirements for the passenger coaches. Swift will complete the final coach designs and engineering, culminating in production documents ready for fabrication. Coaches will be scheduled for delivery to coincide with the completion of some portion of the installed guideway and a charging station. |
During the construction of the guideways, stations, stops and the control center/maintenance facility, Swift will continue to provide all requested documentation, analysis and reports to the A&E firm. Construction can also be expedited, as requested, since Swift management is certified through ICC as a general contractor, depending on the jurisdiction. The Swift team will install the control center and communications hardware and software for the system, also under the company's GC license. Close collaboration is expected to be maintained during construction as Swift would desire to keep a presence on site. The bogies and coaches will be fabricated off-site and delivered as soon as the guideways and O&M facilities are ready. Testing will begin as soon as possible in order to mitigate any debugging delays. |
Commissioning can use the ANSI/ASCE 21 part 4, a modified version, or another applicable engineering document selected by the owner or local authorities. Much of the commissioning can be run progressively during construction. Testing and design reviews will be used to confirm final build meets the construction documents. |
Swift will provide all operations and maintenance through commissioning and a pre determined training period. Training will cover operations, security, maintenance and repairs. Given the opportunity, Swift would continue O&M under an extended contract, or bid on a competitive contract. |
